Having successfully worked on the SEO for their previous site a couple of years ago, I was thrilled when they contacted me to see if I would be available to improve the online visibility of their newly designed site.

Their staff have always been such a pleasure to work with, and exceptionally supportive and appreciative of the efforts and services provided, I was honored that they would seek me out and again put their trust into my skills.

RBS had very wisely invested in having Firmseek, which caters to highly specialized industry specific niches, design and provide their website services. The website was exceptionally well suited and organized for for law industry market, and Firmseek provided for a number of optimization capabilities often missing from generic CMS systems. Throughout the optimization process, I was impressed with how professionally and fast Firmseek attended to their client's needs and requests.

Since the website is fairly in-depth, with a lot of content areas; it was agreed that the best approach (for faster SE indexing and initial ranking speed) would be to optimize the site for organic improvements in stages. Once started, the search engines quickly progressed through the pages, and gained a much wider target market range of searches and clickthroughs.

Personal Observations - RBS Law Firm Staff and Office

Though I had done some previous work on their original site, we had yet to meet in person, so this was the perfect opportunity to visit the RBS office in order to discuss the best approaches to make sure we would gain the right exposure and target market for their new site and system.

I often like to arrive a little earlier than my scheduled meetings so that I can observe, and get a feel for a company's atmosphere and pace. For most law firms, I've usually taken a seat in the waiting area (which is often either uncomfortably right beside the reception area, or tucked away in a separate room).

I was pleasantly surprised at the open space and layout of the office, and the comfortable seating area past the main traffic flow of the office. It provided a nice relaxing waiting area where I could observe the atmosphere while at the same time not feeling like I was placed in the way or on display for anyone walking into the office.

Oh yes -- I also enjoyed the wonderful cityscape from the wall-to-wall  glass viewing area. The office space felt very open and relaxing rather than the usually expected claustrophobic sensation.

What really impressed me was the friendliness of all the staff - they were all so pleasant and would stop when passing by to make sure I had been taken care of. Even more surprising (and completely unexpected), whether one of the actual lawyers, articling students, or support staff, each would ask if I would like them to bring me a coffee or anything else I needed.

A lawyers office can feel intimidating or uneasy for clients, so I was pleasantly surprised at how relaxing and welcomed RBS made their clients and visitors feel.

For the actual business portion of our meeting, RBS was a gem to work with (just as they have always been). They're extremely attentive and appreciative of insight and advice, and never short or dismissive in suggestions to help improve their clients' servicing online.

One really nice aspect was that rather than the usual "how can we get more people to our site?", their primary concern was "how can we make it easier to help our clients online?" That's a true sign of professionalism when a company places their clients needs and interests utmost in importance.
